    (16) Papua New Guinea – Pharmaceutical Society of Papua New Guinea (PSPNG)

    n

    n

The Pharmaceutical Society of PNG (PSPNG) is responsible for professional matters of pharmacists in the country.  The Pharmaceutical Services in Papua New Guinea have steadily improved over the last 22 years due to a number of structural changes, policies, legal and educations changes made by the government.

    n

Our Pharmaceutical Society has played a role also in molding and shaping the face of pharmacy in the country.  One area which we encourage our members is to gain international exposer so we are better equip to improve on our work performance, on research , on continuous updating of our knowledge to go with new innovations that are currently being observed and to assist in solving issues which arise in our field.

    n

Pharmacy Education is perhaps the only component of Pharmacy in the country that has seen great change. PNG Pharmacists are now seeing open doors and many are being training overseas as part of continuous pharmacy education. With the number trained there is still a large gap that needs to be filled. All started in 1994 with the certificate in Pharmacy Education under the National Department of Health. This was upgraded to University level and conducting the Diploma in Pharmacy Technology was then upgraded to the Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree. The first locally trained pharmacist graduated in 1997 and up until now the school is continually producing pharmacy graduates, many of which have furthered their education overseas in Australia and New Zealand and receiving their Masters and Doctoral degrees in Pharmacy. We have come a long way and we have quite a journey to go. The Pharmaceutical Society of PNG is honored to be a back bone in modeling and also shaping and providing continues education for our pharmacist.

The general assembly is the supreme authority of The PST. The PAT has 25 directors (5 alternate directors) and 7 supervisors (2 alternate supervisors). The 25 directors choose 7 executive directors, who then elect one person to be the chairman. Similarly, the 7 supervisors choose 1 executive supervisor. After the most recent vote in March 2019, YawBin Huang was chosen to be the 33rd chairman of the PST.

    n

All the leadership positions within the PST are unpaid. They provide services for members, such as the pharmaceutical education, pharmacy practice, community pharmacy development, international affairs, and pharmaceutical industry committees. The pharmaceutical education committee invites pharmaceutical schools to discuss issues related to pharmacy. The pharmacy practice committee is involved with ongoing training of pharmacists . The community pharmacy development committee enhances business training and certification courses for community pharmacists. The international affairs committee participates in international pharmaceutical forums including FIP, WPPF, and FAPA. The pharmaceutical industry committee hosts pharmaceutical industry symposiums and invite experts from various fields. Finally, they also strive to combine pharmaceutical research and production.

Theme: Pharmacists for the Global Goals: Creating Value Beyond Health

    n

nThis year’s FAPA Congress features a cutting-edge educational program with renowned pharmacy practitioners and researchers from all over Asia and the world. Be inspired by Asian pharmacists who continue charting the future of the profession to ensure solid contributions to the global goals of sustainable development.nnIn 2016, seventeen (17) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development officially came into force. Over the next 15 years, these new Global Goals will drive all countries to address the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Harmonizing economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection is the key to achieve this and the health of individuals and populations is at its core.nnIn this era of Global Goals,  pharmacists are given the unique opportunity to make use of their unique technical expertise, skills and competencies to influence areas beyond health towards reducing inequities, raising basic standards of living, and fostering equitable social development.nnWe hope you can join us once again in another gathering of brilliant minds and passionate hearts to move the Pharmacy Profession towards a bigger, better and stronger contribution to the people of Asia.nnSee you in Manila![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][ult_buttons btn_title=”REGISTER HERE” btn_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Ffapa.asia%2Ffapa-congress-registration%2F||” btn_size=”ubtn-block” btn_title_color=”#212a29″ btn_bg_color=”#ffbc3f” btn_anim_effect=”ulta-float” icon_size=”32″ btn_icon_pos=”ubtn-sep-icon-at-left” btn_font_family=”font_family:Lato|font_call:Lato” btn_font_size=”desktop:25px;”][vc_separator][ult_buttons btn_title=”CALL FOR ABSTRACTS” btn_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Ffapa.asia%2Ffapa2018_abstracts%2F||” btn_size=”ubtn-block” btn_title_color=”#212a29″ btn_bg_color=”#ffbc3f” btn_anim_effect=”ulta-float” icon_size=”32″ btn_icon_pos=”ubtn-sep-icon-at-left” btn_font_size=”desktop:25px;”][vc_separator][/vc_column][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1522723888354{background-color: rgba(255,255,255,0.29) !important;*background-color: rgb(255,255,255) !important;}”][ult_countdown datetime=”2018/04/30 23:57:00″ ult_tz=”ult-usrtz” countdown_opts=”sweek,sday” tick_col=”#385193″ tick_style=”bold” tick_size=”desktop:70px;” tick_sep_size=”desktop:40px;”][fancy_heading h1=”0″ title=”before Early Bird Registration ends”][/fancy_heading][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][hover_box][/vc_column][/vc_row]
